6 Things To Do In London Post-Lockdown

Almost unbelievably, the world is beginning to re-open after a year of on-and-off restrictions. Pubs, cafes and restaurants are all serving customers again, gyms and health centres are keeping us healthy and, with warmer weather around the corner, it’s safe to say we’re all feeling considerably more sociable, more outgoing and ready to find a new favourite hangout spot. But, where to start? Below, we walk you through six of our favourite spots in London that are perfect for a post-lockdown visit.

Food Markets

If you know that you want to go out for food, but can’t decide where, it’s hard to beat a bustling food market. Borough Market, Seven Dials Market, Berwick Street Market, Brockley Market, Victoria Park Market and Pop Brixton are just a few of our favourites, each loaded with small trader stalls selling everything you could possibly fancy, whether that’s an Malaysian barbecue dish, a bottle (or two) of artisanal wine or just a delectable pastry and a strong coffee.

Outdoor Cinemas

With temperatures finally beginning to rise, there’s never been a better time to check out an outdoor cinema. Our recommendation: Rooftop Film Club, which has venues in Bussey Building (Peckham), Roof East (Stratford), Alexandra Palace, Sandown Park Racecourse and Brent Cross.

Third Space Outdoor Classes

If, over the past year, your exercise routine has centred heavily around training outdoors, then our outdoor classes are definitely worth a visit. Our training tent at Canary Wharf will be in place until June, so plenty of time to get a workout outside with our motivating instructors. Each class is COVID-safe and kitted out with cardio kit and dumbbells, so we’ve got you covered.

Lidos

If you’re feeling the heat this year, cool off in one of London’s many lidos. From London Fields to Hyde Park’s Serpentine and Hampstead Heath to Parliament Hill, there’s plenty of options for everyone. They may look a little different post-lockdown, though, so expect to see one-way swim lanes, reduced capacity and plenty of emphasis on good hygiene. If you’re outside of London, check out our list of the best outdoor swimming spots here.

Have a Laugh

…because we all need it, right? There’s never been a better time to check out some comedy in London — you’ll support local businesses and comedians, give yourself a welcome endorphin boost and get to reunite with friends, family or loved ones. A few of our favourites include Hawk’s Nest (West London), Moth Club (East London) and the Boat Show.

Exhibitions

If you’re looking to inject a bit of art into your next outing, allow us to suggest Yayoi Kusama’s ‘Infinity Rooms’ show at the Tate Modern for a surreal (and now-iconic) display of light, illusions, space and distance.
