Sports Massage

Most professional athletes use sports massage by using manual techniques to manipulate soft tissues (muscles tendons and ligaments), and aid lymphatic drainage. In sports treatments it helps to enhance performance and prevent injury. Stretching muscles is a vital component of the treatment. Sports massage is effective in removing the build-up of lactic acid, and treating soft tissue injuries.

Physiotherapy

The use of physical means for preventing and treating disease and injury, for developing and restoring function for activities of daily living and assisting the process of rehabilitation. Chartered Physiotherapists have expanded beyond this early scope, now being actively involved in paramedical procedures such as giving injections.

The combination of manual therapy and occasional use of electrotherapy, when necessary, will encourage correction and recovery from injury. Through exercise rehabilitation and education, recurrence of injury is minimised.

Osteopathy (Inc Cranial)

Osteopathy and osteopathic medicine incorporate current medical and scientific knowledge in applying osteopathic principles to patient care. Scientific review and evidence-informed outcomes have a high priority in patient treatment and case management.
The aim of osteopathy is to improve and support all aspects of health and healthy development.
Osteopaths analyse and evaluate the structural and functional integrity of the body using critical reasoning of osteopathic principles to inform individual diagnosis and treatment of the patient.
Osteopathy can help with a number of health related issues. Although primarily effective for treating musculoskeletal problems such as back pain, it can help with respiratory problems and pregnancy related discomfort for example. Babies and children can also benefit from osteopathy.

Muscle Activation Techniques

MAT® identifies and treats muscular imbalances, weakness and prevents compensation and injuries. MAT® views muscle tightness as a form of protection in the body. Weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints. It helps relieve muscle tightness by firing up the weak muscles. It can be beneficial to individuals who have suffered from trauma, stress, overuse which contribute to muscle inhibition.

Work Station Assessments

Our osteopath attends the workplace to carry out a twenty minute, one-to-one consultation which assesses and provides recommendations on the individual’s workplace. The session focuses on the workstation and examines desk and monitor height, chair set up, phone position, as well as the surrounding environment including lighting and noise. It also focuses on posture of the individual concerned. All of these issues can pose potential hazards to health and can cause musculo-skeletal disorders. A comprehensive report is provided to the employee and to the employer.
